A configurator at the centre of a 50+ product catalogue

A headless store where personalisation is not an option but the main journey, with a graphic library, image upload and saved designs.

The client

The group’s widest catalogue

Gobelet Personnalisé sells customisable reusable cups, glasses and pitchers, with a range that runs past fifty references and an organisation by occasion: weddings, birthdays, stag and hen parties, retirements, sports clubs.

That dual entry point — by product and by occasion — serves both an individual ordering for one event and a professional ordering in volume.

The challenge

Making personalisation accessible without dumbing it down

A configurator poses a dilemma: too limited and it cannot produce the result people want; too open and it becomes design software nobody uses. The balance point differs for an individual and for a professional.

There is also a continuity constraint: a personalised design represents invested time. Losing it by changing page or device is enough to abandon the order.

The solution

A well-equipped configurator on a headless core

We built the journey around a configurator that is rich but guided: drag and drop, a library of ready-made elements, personal image upload, and persistence of work in progress.

01

Drag-and-drop configurator

Composition happens directly on the product, with a live preview. Buyers add text and artwork without leaving for external software.

02

Built-in graphic library

A library of hundreds of elements lets buyers compose a finished design with no design skills, which widens access to personalisation.

03

Image and photo upload

Customers import their own images, with the cropping and adjustments needed to stay within print constraints.

04

Saved designs

Work in progress is preserved, so a design can be picked up later rather than started over — decisive on a long journey.

Tech stack

The technologies we chose

A Next.js front end on the Medusa engine, a configurator built on canvas composition and 3D rendering, a Payload headless CMS for editorial content, and Scaleway object storage for designs.

The outcome

Personalisation becomes the journey, not an option

Gobelet Personnalisé runs a funnel where creating comes before buying, with the guardrails needed to keep what is approved on screen printable in the workshop.
